Leadership
William Champion
Founder
William Champion co-founded HyperPipe with an energy-focused institutional investor to deliver reliable natural gas supply to data center developers, independent power producers, and anchor tenants. He brings more than 20 years in energy infrastructure finance and corporate development, most recently as CFO of Steel Reef Infrastructure Corp., a flare-gas-to-power, private equity-backed platform. At Steel Reef, he helped execute over C$550 million in M&A, drove organic growth strategy, and navigated complex regulatory environments to advance project development and enterprise growth. During his tenure, Steel Reef more than tripled operating cash flow and added over $1 billion in enterprise value.
His earlier career spans progressive leadership roles at Meritage Midstream Services, Black Hills Corporation, Wells Fargo, and CoBank, giving him deep expertise in developing pipeline and energy infrastructure across highly regulated, fast-paced growth markets. He holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Colorado State University.
